Faculty Information about the Library’s Quick Start Tutorial

This tutorial takes the place of the OLLIE Tutorial (2003-2012) and anyone can view it with a regular Internet connection. The tutorial is a series of six YouTube videos and screencasts, which include audio and closed captioning.

The Quick Start Tutorial is designed for first-year students and others who have no experience using our library or doing formal research. Our assumption is that students are comfortable using the Internet for day-to-day tasks but are less comfortable (and often frustrated) using online tools that are built for academic research. The tutorial offers simple instructions on the mechanics of finding information for college assignments.

The quiz has 20 questions. Students sign in with their name, Coyote ID#, and email address. The quiz is scored automatically and students receive a certificate of completion that they can print out and turn in to you. They can also download the certificate and then email a copy of it to you if you prefer this method.

If you would like your students to have a more contextualized experience of the research process, the library offers student workshops.

If you have any questions, please call Barbara Quarton, Instruction Coordinator, at 909-537-7553.
