A Faculty Guide to Kanopy Streaming Video: OneSearch Method - All Streaming Video Databases

How faculty can find, request, and link to Kanopy streaming videos, and also check license expiration dates.

The best method for discovering videos no matter which of our streaming video databases has them.  The one you want may be immediately available.  Includes already-licensed Kanopy videos, many that are unlicensed, but not all videos offered by Kanopy.

ONESEARCH METHOD - KANOPY VIDEOS

FINDING

1.  Search by title or keyword in OneSearch set to Books & Media (CSUSB).

2.  To see only streaming videos in your search results, under Refine my results on the left, choose both Available Online and Video, then click Apply Filters.

Availability - Available Online; Resource Type - Video.

REQUESTING

1.  In the list of results, click on either the title of a video or on the Available online link.

Title of a video (The Immigration Paradox) and the available online link.

2.  On the next screen, you can easily see whether or not the video is currently licensed.

Currently licensed.

See Share Link in Kanopy instructions on the Link to Licensed Kanopy Videos page of this guide.  Take note of the license expiration date!

Available online at: Kanopy Streaming Video: CSUSB Licensed Titles

Not currently licensed.

Available online at: Kanopy Streaming Video Requires a faculty request. Sorry, no student requests.

3.  Click the Kanopy Streaming Video: Requires a faculty request link to go to the video in Kanopy.

Videos that are not licensed should have a request form below the video window.  Fill it out and submit it.  These requests go to Librarian Bonnie Petry.  If the license purchase is approved (remember these are dependent on available funding and must be required viewing for your students), you will have access to the video within 3 working days.

If an unlicensed video does not have a request form, then please use the Pfau Library's Faculty Video Request Form instead.

ONESEARCH METHOD - OTHER STREAMING VIDEOS

Following the instructions on the left will undoubtedly retrieve non-Kanopy videos in your search results.  These do not need to be requested, but you will need to link to them for your classes.
