Health data by geography

For places in California: California Health Maps

About the geographies used in California Health Maps:

  • Definition: MSSAs [Medical Service Study Areas] are sub-county and sub-city geographical units that are defined by the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD).
  • Census tracts: Each census tract in California is assigned to a specific MSSA.

The Center for Disease Control, the National Institute of Health, and other agencies offer health datasets. It's helpful to use terms such as "Map" in the search if you are looking for health data for specific locations.
