JUST IN CASE YOU WEREN'T SURE . . .

- WHAT IS AN ARTICLE? -

"Article" is generic term that means a non-fictional piece of writing.  In length they range from only a few paragraphs to several pages to about 20 pages.  They may be in print or online.  Articles are found in:

  • Magazines (also called popular magazines)
  • Newspapers
  • Scholarly Journals
  • Some Books (with editors)
  • Websites
  • And More (newsletters, blogs, etc.)

All of the above publications can be useful for your research, but especially scholarly journals since professors usually give assignments that require students to use scholarly journal articles.
