SOC 3010: Qualitative Analysis & Field Research (Prof. Paloma Villegas): Popular Sources (Content Analysis)

CSUSB Online Texts: Smart Googling

Pro Tip: Instead of sifting through CSUSB's entire website, do what we call a smart Google Search:

food insecurity site:csusb.edu

By specifying the site, this means you'll retrieve only web results from csusb.edu. Please note that you will probably pull up results from https://scholarworks.lib.csusb.edu/. These are likely theses and dissertations written by CSUSB students or scholarly articles or presentations by CSUSB faculty. Check with your professor before using one of these for your content analysis.

You can do the same for a CSU-wide search:

food insecurity site:calstate.edu

This will pull up important information like the CSU Basic Needs research. Check with your professor before using these sources for your content analysis.

When using Google, be sure to scan news, images, and videos too:

Google search bar: news, videos, books, and more

As with a database search, try different search terms!

Duck Duck Go: A Good Google Alternative

Use the link below to access Duck Duck Go, where you can do the same types of searches:

food insecurity site:csusb.edu

food insecurity site:calstate.edu

Again, scan images, videos, etc:

Duck Duck go search with, videos, news, maps and more

As with a database search, try different search terms!
