Women, as the fastest growing segment of prisoners, are hurt in this complex that produces vast profits & social destruction. The jail houses about 300 inmates, 100 of whom are women. It is known as a "new-generation jail" in jail parlance, and is considered an alternative to traditional jails. The concept of new generation jails refers both to a style of architecture and to inmate management practices and is informed by a set of theoretical assumptions about why jails do not work.
