OneSearch User's Guide: About the Advanced Search

Everything you need to know to start using OneSearch with confidence.

- About the Advanced Search -

The advanced search gives you lots of options to help you build a more precise search.  Look for the link under the basic search box to access it.

 

- THE ADVANCED SEARCH SCREEN -

The Advanced Search with added numbers that map to the explanations at right.

 

- EXPLANATIONS -

1. The same search settings or scopes that appear in the basic search, Available for CSUSB (default) and Expanded Search, appear at the top of the advanced search.

2. The Search Filters section has drop down menus that give you the ability to build more precise combination searches, for example, an author's last name and a title; or a keyword phrase and an author's first name.  Use the built-in Boolean operators (and, or, and not) to combine them.

3.  Use these links to add additional search lines (Add a New Line) or clear them all (Clear) as needed.

4. Focus your searches even further by limiting your search results to a Material Type, a Language (20 to choose from), or a range of publication dates.
