For Faculty
Library Instruction Request
This is where we do most of our business. Typically, librarians teach 1-2 instruction sessions per week during the semester. Nicknamed "one-shots," these sessions may be scheduled for face-to-face instruction in either of our classrooms (usually about 50 minutes) or in the faculty member's classroom (usually 45 minutes), or via Zoom. Faculty also can request asynchronous custom-made tutorials and Library Guides. Here's the link to the online form, Library Instruction Request, and here is a recent example of a custom-made Library Guide with tutorials, Kinesiology Research.
Critical Information Literacy Lab (CIL Lab)
Developed in response to a faculty needs assessment, the CIL Lab is a ready-to-use, multifaceted tool for faculty incorporating critical information literacy into their curriculum. It encompasses a suite of video tutorials, recommended readings, and ideas for assignments that address specific student learning outcomes.
Library Ambassador Program (unavailable until position is filled)
Ambassadors (2-3 of them) visit targeted first-year courses in the General Education program that have a critical information literacy learning outcome for about 45 minutes. You will have the training materials used thus far which will need to be updated. Training took place twice a year, in August and January.
Embedded Librarian
This option, which is basically keeping one particular librarian connected to students in a class for the duration of it, has been more experimental for us, but the interest from faculty is there.

Video Tutorials
We've gradually been accumulating video tutorials that address a wide range of student instruction needs. We also include recordings of some of our workshops.
Library Guides
Authored by various librarians, there's lots of self help in this section of our website.
Workshops
Workshops are taught by volunteers who strive to choose topics that appeal to students. Previously offered almost exclusively face-to-face, we now do Zoom. Students can register for workshops directly from our workshop calendar.

Budget permitting, a student assistant may be hired.
We will be hiring an Outreach and Engagement Librarian who will be collaborating and coordinating with the Library Instruction Specialist Librarian.
We are so looking forward to welcoming a new librarian to our library! You see, it's about more than just the work you would be doing. It's also about gaining another trusted colleague we can rely on just as they will be able rely on us. Someone new, with a fresh perspective to bounce ideas off of (and maybe even laugh at our jokes).
CSU librarians have faculty status, therefore, as far as possible our retention, promotion, and tenure (RPT) process mirrors that of other CSU faculty. When we hire a library faculty member, we are invested in seeing that person succeed so we will be mentoring you through the entire process which normally takes 6 years to become a tenured Associate Librarian.
The job announcement says that our benefits are generous. Here is an example, the current information on our available health plans:
