Using Interlibrary Loan Services: Another Way to Submit a Request

If you need a book or an article that’s not available in this library, we usually can get it for you through Interlibrary Loan. This is a free service for current CSUSB students, faculty, and staff.

SUBMITTING A REQUEST WITHOUT SEARCHING A DATABASE

Sometimes you need to request an Interlibrary Loan when you are not in a database search. For example, you might need a book you found on Amazon that is not listed in any of the library's databases.

On the main page of the library's website, find Quick Links and click Interlibrary Loan Request.

The Interlibrary Loan Request is the first choice in the "Quick Links" section.

You can also find the Interlibrary Loan Request in the top menu bar of OneSearch.

"Interlibrary Loan Request" is the last of several tabs in the OneSearch top menu.

You will get a blank form that works for books, book chapters, or articles.

FILLING OUT THE FORM: BOOKS & BOOK CHAPTERS

- BOOKS -

The minimum information needed for a book request is:

The title of the book
The author of the book

But please fill out the form as completely as possible because it will help us locate the correct item.

- BOOK CHAPTERS -

The minimum information needed for a book chapter request is:

The title of the book
The author of the book
The title and/or number of the chapter

FILLING OUT THE FORM: ARTICLES

- ARTICLES -

The minimum information needed for an article is:

The title of the article
The title of the journal
The year of publication

But please fill out the form as completely as possible because it will help us locate the correct item.
