Find Materials in Languages Other Than English: Books: OneSearch/Library Catalog

Tips for finding research materials in languages other than English.

Introduction

While the majority of Pfau Library's materials are in English, we also have access to materials in many other languages. This guide offers tips for how to locate them.

Keyword: English or not?

In OneSearch, when looking for Books & Media (CSUSB), it's generally best to use English-language keywords, because the book indexing is in English.

Exceptions are the titles of works.

Find Books in a Specific Language

To find books available from Pfau Library, use OneSearch, but limit to Books & Media (CSUSB).

The language limit appears at the bottom of the left menu bar, after you do a search.

Unfold the Language limiter to view languages available among your search results.

If a language doesn't appear on the list, then none of the search results are in that language.

Note that the language limit means that at least some text in the work is in the target language. It does not guarantee that the work is entirely in the target language! A work can be bilingual English and French, but still appear in a search using the French language limit. It will also apply to DVDs or other media that have a track in the target language.
